On the 10th, U.S. President Trump said in a phone interview with The New York Post that the outcome of talks with Iran would be clear within 24 hours, and that if no agreement was reached, the U.S. military would resume strikes against Iran.
Trump made this statement shortly after U.S. Vice President Vance departed for the Pakistani capital Islamabad that same day.
Trump said, “About 24 hours from now, we will know the result. There will be an outcome very soon.”
He warned that U.S. warships were being re-armed and refitted with weapons and ammunition. “If we are ultimately unable to reach a deal, we will use these weapons, and we will use them with great efficiency.”
The first round of talks between the U.S. and Iran will be held in Islamabad on the morning of the 11th local time. The U.S. delegation includes Vance, Presidential envoy Witkov, and Trump’s son-in-law Kushner.
