(Seria, 8th) Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, Chen Shaochun, expressed his pleasure at gathering together with people from all walks of life to jointly attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 "Red Wolf Cultural Festival" and Borneo Calligraphy Competition. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, he extended warm congratulations on the event and sincere respect to all friends who love Chinese culture and actively promote Chinese cultural and linguistic exchanges.

Chen Shaochun pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized that calligraphy is a treasure of Chinese culture, embodying much spirit and essence, and it must be well inherited and carried forward.

He said that between the horizontal and vertical strokes of calligraphy lies the unique charm and fortitude of Chinese culture; within the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone are the wisdom and spirit accumulated by the Chinese nation over thousands of years. The calligraphy works by people from various circles not only vividly present the profound connotations and unique artistic conception of Chinese culture, but also reflect the sound inheritance and vigorous development of Chinese culture in Brunei.

He stated that this cultural festival is not only a display of exquisite calligraphy, but also a multicultural feast that blends literature, film, handicrafts, and traditional calligraphic arts. The event forges friendships through calligraphy and promotes trust through literature—not only contributing to the inheritance and promotion of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, but also facilitating greater mutual understanding and kinship between the peoples of China and Brunei.

He said that the festival embodies the Oriental wisdom of "all things growing together, harmony and coexistence", and is a vivid practice of the Global Civilization Initiative, promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Chen Shaochun pointed out that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei, and that China-Brunei ties have now entered a new historical stage of jointly building the China-Brunei community with a shared future.

He mentioned that in May this year, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei, His Royal Highness Prince Billah, paid a successful visit to China. During their meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Brunei should become highly trusting strategic partners, mutually beneficial development partners, culturally connected partners, and cooperative partners in global governance—thus providing direction for the present and future development of China-Brunei relations.

He stated that the Chinese Embassy in Brunei is willing to work together with friends from all walks of life in Brunei to thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping’s important proposals on forging the "four partnerships", to continuously expand friendly cooperation in various fields, deepen cultural exchange and mutual learning, bring the hearts of the two peoples ever closer, constantly consolidate the public opinion and social foundation for the cause of China-Brunei friendship, and jointly make new and greater contributions to furthering the China-Brunei community with a shared future.
