(Miri, 23rd) Located by the Pan-Borneo Highway Miri Bypass, the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal will officially begin operations on January 18, 2025, with operating hours from 5 am to 11 pm daily.
Miri Mayor, Adam Yii, made this announcement during a press conference after presiding over the 12th regular meeting of the Miri City Council for 2024 today.
Adam Yii stated that the opening of this modern terminal marks an important milestone in the development of public transportation infrastructure for Miri City and its surrounding areas. The existing Pujut Bus Terminal will cease its services on January 17, 2025, to make way for the opening of the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal. He also took this opportunity to thank the Pujut Bus Terminal for its many years of contribution to the community and believes that the new terminal will continue this tradition, providing higher quality services and convenient transportation.
New Facilities Meet Transportation Needs
The design of the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal fully considers the needs of commuters and transport operators. Its main facilities include 12 ticket counters, 12 retail units, 14 bus bays, 2 cafes, a spacious and comfortable waiting area, and accessible public restrooms for the convenience of people with mobility issues.
The new terminal will facilitate long-distance buses, city buses, taxis, and e-hailing services, ensuring that all passengers enjoy a smoother travel experience.
Collaborative Effort in Modern Development
Adam Yii pointed out that the construction of the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal is the result of joint efforts by the Sarawak State Government, Sarawak Ministry of Transport, and Miri City Council, reflecting the goals of modern infrastructure development, improved accessibility, and enhanced regional connectivity.
He hopes that citizens, stakeholders, and the media will support this new transportation hub, collectively witnessing a new chapter in the development of Miri's transport network.
