The Paris public prosecutor's office confirmed to the media on the 2nd that it will launch an investigation into American entrepreneur Musk's AI company xAI's chatbot "Grok" over allegations of generating illegal pornographic content.

"Grok," developed by xAI, is embedded in the social media platform X, which is owned by Musk, allowing X users to directly access the chatbot. Recently, some users on X have been using "Grok" to edit images and videos, with some generated content appearing highly realistic. Some users have used it to create fake sexual explicit content of real individuals and disseminate it on X. Victims reportedly include hundreds of women and minors.

On the 2nd, several French government ministers and members of the National Assembly reported the above phenomenon to the French judiciary. Later that evening, the Paris prosecutor's office announced it would open a related investigation.

According to French media reports, since last July the Paris prosecutor's office had already been investigating the X platform on suspicion of aiding foreign interference through algorithmic control. The investigation into "Grok" is an extension of the existing investigation into X.
