(Kuching, 7th) Yesterday, Sarawak Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, paid a courtesy visit to Annapurna Devi Yadav, the Minister of Women and Child Development of the Republic of India, in New Delhi, India.
This courtesy visit is part of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation, with a focus on implementing women-centered development initiatives.
According to the statement, the meeting aimed to exchange views on women’s empowerment and efforts to enhance child development initiatives.
During the discussion, Fatimah also extended an invitation to Annapurna Devi Yadav to attend the “2026 South Asian International Women’s Conference” (SIWA2026), which will be held in Kuching, Sarawak, from September 8 to 10, 2026.
SIWA2026 is a prestigious international platform that aims to bring together women leaders, policymakers, professionals, and advocates from South Asia and the global diaspora to foster cooperation and advance discussions on women’s leadership, empowerment, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
Accompanying the courtesy call was also the President of the Sarawak Indian Women’s Association (SIWA), Penghulu Lucy Linggam.
