A shocking assault case recently occurred in Bandar Lampung city, Banten province, Indonesia. A 28-year-old woman, allegedly out of love turned to hate, attacked her married lover during a rendezvous at a motel, taking advantage of his unguarded moment to slash his genitals with a knife, nearly severing them completely. The man's injuries were severe. After surgery, doctors were able to save his life, while the woman did not flee the scene and calmly awaited police arrest.

According to the Daily Star and local media Viral Press, the suspect is Wendi Cynthia, age 28, who had been involved with a 32-year-old man, Karsilan Utami, since 2019. The man later married another woman, but the two continued their affair for years. Until mid-October of this year, when Wendi learned that Karsilan had bought a new scooter for his wife and was allegedly seeing someone new, she flew into a rage and decided to seek revenge.

On the evening of October 19 around 7pm, Wendi asked Karsilan to meet at Baruna Square, Panjang District, Bandar Lampung, using the pretext of “wanting to talk over their relationship problems.” They then headed to a motel together. After getting intimate in the room for about half an hour, Wendi suddenly pulled out a utility knife she had prepared in advance from her bag and slashed Karsilan's genitals multiple times, nearly amputating them.

Karsilan screamed in agony and, covered in blood, ran naked out into the street for help, terrifying bystanders. He was quickly rushed to Abdul Moeloek Hospital for emergency treatment. Hospital officials stated that after emergency surgery, doctors were able to reattach his genitals, and his current condition is stable.

When police arrived, they found Wendi still sitting in a pool of blood, dazed and covered in blood. She confessed to the crime, stating, “I bought the utility knife a week ago, I just wanted to stop him from messing around with other women.” Police immediately arrested her and launched an investigation for “intentional serious injury.” If convicted, she faces up to 7 years in prison.

At a police press conference, Wendi said she felt “somewhat regretful, but also relieved” about her actions. She said Karsilan had continued to see her many times after his marriage: “He made me feel like I was his wife, but he kept lying to me, hurting me, and got involved with other women.”
