Accusation Against Jack Neo for Constantly Adding Lines, Hui Ge Erupts: This is the Last Film

The Singapore New Year's film 'AI Fighting to Win' will be released on January 29th, the first day of the lunar new year. Director Jack Neo leads his old partners Hui Ge (Thomas Chua), Quan Yi Fong, Yao Yishan, Adrian Pang, and Sunny Ng to Malaysia for promotion. Jack Neo and Hui Ge had a playful yet confrontational exchange at the press conference, with Jack Neo revealing that Hui Ge got angry on set. Playing the male lead, Hui Ge accused Jack Neo of constantly adding lines, causing him to erupt, declaring, 'This is the last film,' to which Jack Neo retorted, 'Every time he gets mad, he says it’s the last film,' and jokingly announced on the spot, 'I officially declare, this is Hui Ge's last movie!' Hui Ge cleverly replied, 'The last film of 2024!' The two frequently teased each other, creating a funny and entertaining scene!

'AI Fighting to Win' revolves around AI artificial intelligence and everyone’s daily life. Jack Neo admitted that after last year's 'Money No Enough 3: Everything is Enough' set a box office record, he felt a lot of pressure to produce a New Year's film and spent three months thinking about what theme to shoot. He finally decided on AI robots.

Jack Neo (from left) and Thomas Chua 'mentors and apprentices' frequently teased each other at the press conference, creating a funny and entertaining scene. He pointed out that AI has already been 'rampant' in life for many years, and many people enjoy AI while unknowingly living with it. 'This time, the film sets AI as the background mainly to let everyone know the good and bad of AI, understanding that AI can both support and undermine us.'

He also revealed that the 9 songs in the movie were all completed using AI, and even the singing was AI, except for one song performed by Yao Yishan. He jokingly said, 'I fear letting humans down, so at least one song was left for Yao Yishan to sing, and I think her voice somehow accidentally sounds a bit like a robot.'

When asked if he has confidence to retain the box office championship title, after 'Money No Enough 3: Everything is Enough' was last year’s top New Year film in Malaysia while facing competition from 16 films this year, Jack Neo exclaimed, 'The budget for Malaysia’s New Year films is very high, everyone can make films.' He then stated it's currently impossible to evaluate, 'because I don’t know who the top competitor is this time, as there are many familiar faces with very different backgrounds, so I'm curious. Maybe after this round, I’ll know a little better. It's hard to say about the box office figures now; saying too good seems too boastful, saying not good underestimates myself.'
Jack Neo jokingly said that selecting Hui Ge as the male lead resulted in Mark Lee not performing. Hui Ge couldn’t help but 'retort,' 'This is all his doing, he asked me to be the lead, and by the third day, we were almost fighting.' Often forgetting his lines, Hui Ge had many scenes and lines as the male lead this time, saying it made the pressure heavier. He 'complained,' 'There are many lines, and Director Neo kept adding lines until I erupted!' Jack Neo added, 'His lines are like '24 hits,' but every time it’s NG and retaken, the lines are different; I’m very distressed.' Hui Ge humorously retorted, 'The funny lines are all my impromptu ones!'

Mo Xiaoling plays an AI robot in the movie and confessed that at first, she thought playing an expressionless robot would be easy. However, she felt frustrated on the first day for not meeting her self-expectations. For this role, she went all out because the robot's face shouldn’t have much expression, and her body was stiff every day while filming. She lamented, 'I started having back pain on the third day, maybe I’m getting old!' Talking about her 'bed scene' hugging Hui Ge, she joked, 'I’ve filmed so many movies with Director Neo, and this is the first time he let me hug a man,' to which Thomas Chua unmercifully joked it felt like hugging a barrel of oil.

Yao Yishan said she was lucky to work on a comedy for the first time with Singapore's 'Comedy Godfather' Director Neo and Hui Ge, learning the rhythm of comedy from them. Asked if she could have a kissing scene with Hui Ge next time, she responded that it depends on the box office. Director Neo followed up, 'If the box office hits ten million, then they truly kiss!' Adrian Pang laughed, 'If it hits 30 million ringgit, then kiss for three minutes!' Mo Xiaoling jokingly added, 'Three minutes is very dangerous, need three ambulances ready.'
