(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) The 2026 Baiduri Golf Masters Charity Tournament concluded successfully the day before yesterday, raising BND 75,000 in donations. Once again, this highlights the tournament’s role as an important platform for bringing together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and the community to jointly support charitable causes.
The Baiduri Golf Masters awards ceremony was held the night before last at the Handicraft Building's Grand Banquet Hall, with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Pengiran Haji Mohammad, invited to attend the prize presentation as the guest of honor. Attendees included sponsors, charity representatives, golfers, and other guests.
Baiduri Bank CEO Ti Eng Hui expressed his sincere gratitude to all participating golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters in his speech at the awards ceremony, and thanked everyone for their contributions to the tournament’s success.
He stated that while the figures are encouraging, the real success of the Baiduri Golf Masters lies in the generous and continued support from all sectors of society over the years. He also reaffirmed that since 2024, the tournament has pledged that 100% of all golfers’ registration fees will be directly donated to charitable organizations.
This year, a total of 653 golfers registered for the tournament. The registration fees collected were equally distributed among five charities: La Vida, the Autism Society, the Learning Ladders Society, Pusat Ehsan, and An-Nur Harapan, with each organization receiving BND 15,000.
In terms of competition results, Lim Ming Jie shot an excellent score of 66 in the final round, successfully defending his Baiduri Golf Masters Championship. This marks his second consecutive championship after winning last year.
With his calm and steady performance, Lim Ming Jie edged out former champion Mohamad Shakir, who took the runner-up position with a score of 68, four under par. The 2024 champion, Mohamad Irwan, finished third with a score of 69.
In the women’s division, Almas Shazwani once again showed consistent form and composure to successfully defend her women's title. After winning the women’s championship for the first time in 2024, she has now claimed the title again, further adding to her record.
Although no golfer won the hole-in-one prize this year, the tournament still offered attractive prizes, including a BMW X3, Porsche Macan EV, MINI Cooper, and a cash prize of BND 20,000.
Several golfers narrowly missed the grand prizes, including one whose shot on hole 16 stopped just 5 centimeters short of the Porsche Macan EV. Other golfers missed out on the cash prize, MINI Cooper, and BMW X3 by 74 centimeters, 50 centimeters, and 1 meter, respectively, which was quite unfortunate.
With the final putt holed and the trophy ceremony completed, the Baiduri Golf Masters once again demonstrated that its impact extends far beyond the golf course. For more than 30 years, the tournament has not only provided a platform for competition and interaction among golfers but also united various sectors of society, jointly creating positive and meaningful changes for charity and the community.
