(Washington, 26th) — A shooting incident occurred near the White House on the 23rd, which authorities are treating as an assassination attempt targeting President Trump.
According to U.S. media reports on the 25th, the U.S. Department of Justice stated in a document that the shooting was yet another assassination attempt against President Trump.
The Justice Department document shows that on the day of the attack, the assailant approached a Secret Service checkpoint and "attempted to murder the President, his family, and staff." He "skillfully drew a large-caliber handgun from his bag and fired in the direction of the White House."
The shooting occurred at a U.S. Secret Service checkpoint at the northwest corner of the White House. According to reports by U.S. media, one person opened fire at Secret Service personnel, who returned fire and hit the shooter. The gunman was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.
