The Taiwan Ministry of National Defense stated on the 30th that from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the PLA launched two waves of multiple rocket launchers from the areas of Pingtan and Shishi in Fujian, firing a total of 27 rockets towards the northern and southwestern seas of Taiwan.
At a provisional press conference, Major General Hsieh Jih-sheng, Deputy Chief of the Intelligence Staff, said that from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the PLA launched two waves of multiple rocket launchers from Pingtan and Shishi in Fujian, firing a total of 27 rockets toward the northern (17 rockets) and southwestern (10 rockets) seas of Taiwan.
He pointed out that this live-fire drill, especially the impact points detected in the afternoon, were indeed closer to Taiwan—this is a fact.
He said that the PLA fired two waves: the first wave was 17 rockets launched from Pingtan, Fujian at 9 a.m., with the impact area 70 nautical miles northeast of Keelung—without crossing Taiwan's airspace; the second wave was at 1 p.m. from Shishi, Quanzhou, Fujian, firing 10 rockets with the impact area 50 nautical miles west of Tainan.
