(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th Jan) The Brunei Chiness Chamber of Commerce held its 2024 annual general meeting today at the Mahligai Hall in the airport shopping complex.
Chamber President Lin Hanzhang expressed his gratitude to everyone for taking their valuable time to attend our 2024 members' meeting. First, I would like to sincerely thank the board members, the youth business group, the women's group, and all members for their support and assistance to me over the past year.
He said, time flies, and in the blink of an eye, the year 2024 has quietly passed us by, and it has been a whole year since the 43rd board was sworn in on January 22, 2024.
The year 2024 is a highly commemorative year for Brunei. Prince of Marange held a grand wedding on January 7, with the whole nation sending their best wishes, and the Chamber was fortunate to sponsor an archway in the city center to express good wishes to the newlyweds. In addition, the chamber also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Brunei's independence and responded to the invitation of the Brunei Sports Department by actively sponsoring fireworks to add splendor to the event.
In terms of event development, after in-depth discussions and consensus among the board members, it was decided that besides continuing to host the annual Chinese New Year gathering and economic and trade activities, no other cultural and entertainment activities will be organized in the future. This strategic adjustment will help the chamber focus resources and energy to enhance the quality and impact of events.
Regarding international exchanges, the President led the current consultants and board members to attend the 17th World Chinese Business Conference held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from September 9-11, 2024. This grand event attracted the participation and attention of many important guests, gathering together to explore new opportunities for global business development.
Our chamber successfully hosted its first business forum on October 28, 2024, at the J-Hotel. This event attracted 168 guests, including representatives from major business groups, banking circles, national chambers of commerce, and telecom companies such as DST, fully demonstrating our influence and appeal in the industry.
Looking to the future, the Chamber of Commerce will continue to strive to provide more business opportunity platforms for its members. It plans to hold Member Days every three months (March, June, and September). Through these activities, it is hoped that by engaging with members, we can jointly explore issues related to Brunei's economic development and business challenges, in order to discuss solutions and explore opportunities together.
The President firmly believes that in this era full of opportunities and challenges, we will work together to face every challenge of the future and create a better tomorrow. The combined efforts of everyone will surely drive our chamber to continue to prosper.
As the Lunar New Year approaches, the President sincerely wishes everyone that everything in the past will become a beautiful prelude, and that every day in the future will be full of hope, with everything to look forward to!
