Shocking gossip has gone viral online about China’s short drama circle! On June 29, an entertainment blogger posted text allegations that a certain ‘C’-surname top star in the short drama scene intervened in the relationship between an ‘L’-surname actress and an ‘H’-surname male star, sparking netizens’ speculation that the individuals involved are short drama idols Chen Tianxiang, Liu Nian, and He Congrui. In response, Liu Nian, who was accused of cheating, and Chen Tianxiang, accused of being a ‘mistress’, swiftly issued stern statements and legal letters late that night, vehemently denouncing the rumors as malicious fabrications.
The gossip blogger “Top star Nemesis Sister Zhang” cited insiders, claiming that the ‘C’-surname male star is ‘short drama’s #1 costume drama idol’. After collaborating with the ‘L’-surname actress on several projects, the two reportedly sparked a romance. However, the L actress already had a legitimate boyfriend in the short drama circle, the ‘H’-surname male star, with whom she fell in love through work. As all three of them live long-term in Hengdian, the ‘C’ top star allegedly appeared to address ‘H’ as a brother in public, but secretly started an affair with ‘L’. The blogger went on to claim that during the May Day holidays this year, H found out he was being cheated on and confronted C on WeChat; unexpectedly, C remained calm and instead scolded H for causing trouble. Although L promised H to cut ties with C, she allegedly continued a back-and-forth secret relationship with C. Due to the suggestive hints, netizens have pointed fingers at popular short drama actors Chen Tianxiang, Liu Nian, and He Congrui.
On the evening of June 29, Liu Nian issued a statement condemning ‘marketing accounts’ for fabricating fake relationship rumors and inventing falsehoods about inappropriate relationships, stating these had seriously harmed her reputation and career. She issued a stern warning to all infringing parties to delete the false content and issue a pinned public apology within 24 hours, or she will resolutely file lawsuits and show no leniency.
Chen Tianxiang, accused of being involved in the relationship, issued a joint statement through his agency “Shuyang Culture” and Beijing Yingtai Law Firm, clarifying that his connections with the people mentioned in the rumors were all within the normal scope of private social interaction, and angrily denounced the ‘inappropriate relationship’ claims as outright malicious fabrication. The company emphasized that electronic evidence had already been preserved, and similarly issued a 24-hour deadline to the infringers to delete the relevant content, vowing to take legal action and pursue accountability to the end. Meanwhile, He Congrui, who was also caught up in speculation, has not responded publicly.
