The latest Indonesian public opinion poll shows President Prabowo’s approval rating has dropped to 51.1%, a new low since he took office. The survey indicates dissatisfaction with economic prospects and political performance are the main reasons for the decline.
According to Reuters, Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) executive director Deni said on Sunday that Prabowo’s approval rating had reached as high as 81.2% in November 2025, fell to 66.4% in late February to early March this year, and has now declined further to 51.1%.
Deni pointed out that the public’s general perception of a deteriorating national economy is a key factor for the president’s ongoing drop in approval rating.
The survey shows 49.4% of respondents believe Indonesia’s economic situation is “bad” or “very bad,” with only 15.7% saying the economic situation is good.
He stated that the survey also corroborates the views of many economists, namely that while official economic growth data may look good, it does not truly reflect the everyday experience of ordinary people.
In addition to economic factors, the public’s evaluation of the government’s handling of political affairs has also declined significantly. 42.8% of respondents rated Prabowo’s handling of political situations as “bad” or “very bad,” a substantial increase compared to 23% in November 2025; the proportion who think his political performance is good dropped from 35.8% to 13.5%.
This survey was conducted from July 5 to 19, with a total of 749 respondents, and a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7%.
Prabowo took office as president in October 2024. Since the beginning of this year, Indonesia’s government has continuously faced challenges such as the depreciation of the rupiah, a weak stock market, the expansion of fiscal spending, and issues surrounding the independence of the central bank.
