Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China is willing to deepen good-neighborly trust with Afghanistan and Pakistan, further strengthen exchanges at all levels, and promote peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry website, the 6th China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue was held on the 20th local time in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan; Wang Yi, Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaqi, and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Wang Yi stated that China is willing to deepen good-neighborly trust with Afghanistan and Pakistan, understand and support each other on issues concerning respective core interests, firmly oppose any external forces interfering in the region, and resolutely oppose any organization or individual engaging in activities that harm the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of any party within their borders.
He believes the three parties should further strengthen exchanges at all levels and continuously consolidate strategic mutual trust. China supports Afghanistan and Pakistan in improving bilateral relations, deepening the convergence of interests, insisting on resolving differences through dialogue and consultation, and promoting steady and long-term trilateral cooperation among China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
Wang Yi pointed out that the three parties should expand development cooperation, increase trade and investment exchanges, strengthen connectivity network construction, and enhance people-to-people bond; should improve the security dialogue mechanism, deepen law enforcement and security cooperation, step up the fight against transnational terrorist activities, and address both the symptoms and root causes of terrorism on the basis of consensus; they should uphold the principle of indivisible security, pay attention to each other's legitimate security concerns, and embark on a path of cooperative and common security.
In addition, Wang Yi also met respectively with Afghan Prime Minister Akhund and Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani on the same day.
Wang Yi said that historically, imperialists, colonialists, and hegemonists have all tried to invade Afghanistan, but ultimately failed, and such schemes will not succeed in the future. China has always advocated equality among all countries regardless of size, opposes the strong bullying the weak and big bullying small, and believes all countries should treat each other equally and achieve win-win cooperation. The world should not allow the rich to become richer and the poor poorer; every country, including Afghanistan, has the right to achieve development and revitalization.
He mentioned that since changes in the Afghan political situation, the Chinese foreign minister has visited twice, reflecting China's sincere desire to develop relations with Afghanistan and promote traditional friendship; China will continue to oppose unilateral bullying and carry out cooperation in all fields with Afghanistan.
Wang Yi also said that China is willing to contribute to Afghanistan's development and revitalization, to enhance Afghanistan’s capacity for independent development, will continue to uphold justice for Afghanistan in multilateral mechanisms, oppose unreasonable pressure and freezing of Afghanistan's assets, and called on Afghanistan to take strong measures against international terrorist forces such as the ‘East Turkistan Islamic Movement’ to provide a strong guarantee and necessary environment for bilateral cooperation.
