(Bangkok, 1st) Comprehensive report — Recently, the Karen Border Guard Force in Myanmar launched demolition operations in the notorious "KK Park" area near Myawaddy in Karen State, successfully taking control of the region. Following this news, large numbers of foreign nationals, attempting to escape the crackdown, crossed the border into Thailand.

Yesterday, the Thai military announced it has implemented round-the-clock surveillance along the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and strengthened entry screening measures to ensure border security and stability. At the same time, the Thai side officially lodged a protest with Myanmar through the Thai-Myanmar Border Committee, requesting restraint during military operations to avoid impacts on the border area shared by both countries.

According to statistics from the Joint Thai-Myanmar Border Command Center in Tak Province, a total of 1,595 people have so far illegally crossed into Thailand, comprising 1,330 men and 265 women, the vast majority of whom are foreign nationals. This includes 465 from India, 220 from the Philippines, 185 from China, 151 from Vietnam, and 130 from Ethiopia, as well as individuals from more than 20 other countries including Kenya, Pakistan, Nepal, Ukraine, Indonesia, Laos, and South Africa.

Currently, Thai authorities have arrested and prosecuted 680 people, of whom 439 have been deported after paying fines; another 23 have been included in the national protection mechanism review process while awaiting confirmation as to whether they are involved in human trafficking cases.

Thailand's Immigration Bureau and security agencies issued a joint statement, emphasizing that all entrants have undergone rigorous security and health checks to ensure national security and the safety of the lives and property of residents along the border.
