The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) will open on November 5th in Shanghai. This year, dozens of countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Country Pavilion for Trade and Investment; the Enterprise Business Exhibition has confirmed over 3,200 companies from more than 110 countries and regions, including several international luxury brands.
CIIE is the world’s first national-level expo themed on imports, serving as a key gateway for foreign enterprises to enter China’s vast market. Japanese cosmetics brand Shiseido, which has participated for eight consecutive years, will showcase 50 new products making their debut at this year’s CIIE. According to Mei Jin Li Xin, Chief Executive Officer of Shiseido China and Travel Retail, as cited by China News Service, “We are delighted to see the Chinese market demonstrating increasingly broad inclusiveness. CIIE has always been an important stage for Shiseido to present its innovative achievements and deepen local ties.”
Swiss luxury goods company Richemont Group will have all seven of its brands—Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, Alaïa, Dunhill, and Montblanc—participating in this year’s CIIE. A Richemont Group representative stated, “We continue to cultivate the Chinese market and support the growth of China’s fine goods industry. This is the Group’s sixth time participating in CIIE, and we eagerly look forward to experiencing timeless artistic legends and enduring craftsmanship with visitors at this year’s expo.”
Statistics show that the previous seven CIIEs have generated over $500 billion (2.1 trillion ringgit) in intended transaction value, attracting 23,000 overseas exhibitors cumulatively. China’s vast market is truly being transformed into a global opportunity. Wu Zhengping, Deputy Director-General of the China International Import Expo Bureau, said that, against a backdrop of increasing global economic uncertainty, successfully holding the 8th CIIE has special and significant meaning.
