(Kuching, 31st) The Sarawak government is pleased to announce that AirBorneo Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a company wholly owned by the Sarawak government, has officially completed the acquisition of MASwings, which will take effect from January 1, 2026.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and the Sarawak government signed the sale and purchase agreement on February 12, 2025.
From January 1, 2026 onwards, AirBorneo will assume all legal and operational responsibilities of MASwings.
During the initial transition period, the MASwings brand will continue to be retained; at the same time, AirBorneo will gradually roll out its brand-new corporate identity. AirBorneo expresses gratitude to passengers, partners, and stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding during the transition.
This acquisition aligns with the Sarawak government’s strategic objective to strengthen regional air connectivity and ensure affordable fares for the people of Sarawak. It marks a key step in supporting Sarawak’s broader social and economic development agenda and lays the foundation for the next phase of AirBorneo’s growth.
