57-year-old singer and actress Chen Mingzhen was reported on the 20th to have suspected health issues. It is known that she previously underwent surgery for adenomyosis, and unexpectedly, she was spotted at a hospital earlier last month. During a stage play performance, she also appeared significantly thinner.
Chen Mingzhen debuted in 1990 with "Wings of Unfaithfulness" and was known as a "Jade Girl Singer" for her fresh and pure image, becoming one of the mudguard goddesses. She and Xie Zuwu starred in "Taiwan Strange Tales," but due to a relationship change with Chen Junsheng and a street car chase, she withdrew from "Taiwan Strange Tales." She continued to be active in drama and recording circles afterwards.
In early November, the slender Chen Mingzhen went to Penghu to perform a stage play.
She married musician Ji Zhongping, and in 2014, through IVF, gave birth to twins. She then withdrew from the limelight to focus on raising her children. After more than 10 years, Chen Mingzhen returned to acting early this year, and by the time she played the role of a rural doctor's wife in the Da Ai TV drama "People in the Light" this October, it marked her true comeback.
However, her health is suspected to be problematic. According to "Mirror Weekly," Chen Mingzhen previously underwent surgery for adenomyosis, but was spotted at Taipei General Veterans Hospital last month, coinciding with the "People in the Light" press conference, which she missed. Later, during a stage play, she appeared much thinner, raising concerns about her health. Chen Mingzhen personally told "Apple Daily News" reporters: "It's okay, the report contains incorrect information." When asked if she needs to correct any of the reported details, she casually replied: "No need, it's nothing." Reporters turned to Ji Zhongping for recent updates, and he responded: "Nothing much, all is well." The couple remained low-key and refused to elaborate on the reports.#
