(Vietnam, 26th) At 18:05 on the 25th, train T8701 departed from China's Nanning Station heading towards Hanoi, Vietnam, marking the resumption of the China-Vietnam international passenger train service after five years.
According to a report from China News Service, Guangzhou passenger Li Minhan, who frequently travels between China and Vietnam for work, stated that compared to flying, taking the China-Vietnam international passenger train is more cost-effective. "Our company has established related industries in Vietnam, and we will often need to travel between China and Vietnam in the future. I will frequently take the China-Vietnam international passenger train as it facilitates business exchanges for Chinese enterprises in Vietnam."
Zhao Shuaiqi, from a university in Shanghai, is a train enthusiast who specifically traveled from Shanghai to Nanning to take the China-Vietnam international passenger train to Vietnam for tourism. "I want to experience the feeling of cross-border travel by train. The resumption of this international passenger train provides a different option for cross-border travel passengers," he said.
Liang Anni, the train conductor of the T8701 international passenger train of China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the train combines comfort and convenience, with all carriages being sleeper cars, operating overnight so passengers can arrive at the destination after a night's sleep, making it especially suitable for cross-border tourism and business travel.
Since January 1, 2009, international passenger trains T8701/MR2 and MR1/T8702 between Nanning Station and Hanoi (Gia Lam) Station have been in operation. In early February 2020, the China-Vietnam international passenger train was temporarily suspended.
