(Miri, 27th) The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) held a pre-celebration dinner for Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak 2025 last night at the Grand Palace Hotel Miri. The event was a warm and lively occasion, showcasing the spirit of multiracial festival celebration and harmonious integration in Sarawak.
President Chai Chon Chin delivered a speech at the dinner, announcing several new initiatives and extending festive wishes to the members.
Chai Chon Chin stated that this celebration is not only a festive gathering but also a symbol of harmonious coexistence among Sarawak's ethnic groups and religions. He emphasized that the association will actively promote healthy living, professional training, and member welfare in the future.

He pointed out that during the Northern Sarawak Media Sports Carnival held in conjunction with National News Day, Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin emphasized that media personnel should maintain a healthy physique to keep clear thinking and sharp judgment.
“These words inspired me greatly. Therefore, in the next council meeting, I will suggest that the association subsidizes the rental of a sports venue once from Monday to Thursday every week to encourage members to participate in sports activities with their equipment. They can also organize friendly matches, not to compete for championships, but to cultivate interest in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle.”
He also particularly praised the members who won medals in the Media Sports Carnival, including Jennifer Laeng, Rosemaria Buma, Mohd Syaffuan Zaini, and Riza Kasim, and thanked them for bringing honor to the association.

In addition, Chai Chon Chin announced an important training course "AI in the Newsroom" to be held on July 3rd, fully sponsored by Lee Kim Shin and open to only 20 members.
“Although the spots are limited, the association will actively seek more sponsorship to organize more similar courses to enhance members' professional abilities.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee of this celebration, especially to the team led by Salasiah Safian and Colinna Radang, for their efforts in preparing the dinner. He also thanked Imasa Dinasti Co. Ltd., Datuk Wu Jianping, City Councilor Fan Hongxiang, and City Councilor Xiong Qianyu for sponsoring lucky draw prizes, adding joy to the dinner.
Finally, he extended greetings to the Muslim members, wishing them a happy Hari Raya and wishing the Dayak community a happy Gawai Dayak, hoping that everyone has good health, happy families, and successful careers.
