Safely Rescued After Two Days Missing: 64-Year-Old Man Successfully Found

(Miri, 2nd) A 64-year-old man who went missing for two days at Tinjar's Long Loyang was successfully found today, safe and sound, after a joint search and rescue operation by multiple units and villagers.

The missing person, Patrick Sapek Karang, was last seen by his family on April 29 (Tuesday) around 5 PM. When the family arrived at his residence that evening, he was not at home. The next day (April 30), the family and villagers conducted an initial search around his orchard but were unable to find any trace.

On May 1 (Thursday) at 8:59 AM, a report was made to the Miri Lopeng Fire Station. A rescue team, led by Senior Fire Officer Darwin, consisting of three members, was dispatched at 9 AM, driving a fire rescue vehicle to the scene. After nearly three hours, they arrived at 12:44 PM.

The search and rescue operation began immediately, involving police (three personnel) and villagers (ten people), focusing mainly on a 1-kilometer radius around the missing person's orchard. However, due to the lack of any findings and the approaching darkness, the operation was temporarily suspended at 3:30 PM. The fire team returned to Lopeng Fire Station at 7:30 PM that evening.

On May 2 (Friday) morning, Lopeng Fire Station received another notification from Marudi Fire Station staff Ilik, indicating the continuation of the operation to the incident site. However, en route, at 10 AM, they received the latest notice from Long Lama Police Station confirming that Patrick Sapek Karang had been found safe.

Given the remote location, the police had already taken the missing person to Long Lama Clinic for a check-up, suggesting the fire team did not need to proceed to the scene. After assessing the safety of the site, the rescue team returned to the fire station at 11:50 AM, concluding the search operation. The operation mobilized firefighters from Lopeng and Marudi, police personnel, and villagers.

Firefighters, police personnel, and villagers from Lopeng and Marudi work together to search for the missing person.
