(Miri, 7th) To organize the Miri Gong xi Bazaar 2025, the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce has been busy decorating with lanterns on the main street and King Street. Currently, around 50% of the decorations are completed, and they are expected to add a festive mood to the city during the upcoming festival period.

Starting from December 22, red lanterns have been installed in the city to create a lively Chinese New Year atmosphere. However, during the installation process, there was an incident where wires were stolen, affecting the normal installation of some lanterns.

According to the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce Secretariat, contractors discovered the theft of wires on December 23 in the area where lanterns were being prepared for installation. To prevent similar incidents from happening again, the police have begun night patrols since last night.

Despite this, the market setup is still proceeding smoothly, with all decorations being installed and lit simultaneously to ensure any issues can be discovered and repaired promptly.

This theft has not only increased the workload for the contractors but also caused losses to the organizers. However, measures have been taken to minimize the impact.

The Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Miri City Council, will host the Miri Gong xi Bazaar from January 18 to 28. The main activity areas include the main street, King Street, and the Provincial Office parking lot. The marketplace will feature 300 booths offering clothing, traditional ornaments, New Year goods, western pastries, desserts, various ethnic snacks, barbecue, beverages, flowers, and more.

Furthermore, to celebrate the Year of the Snake, the market decorations will be snake-themed, combined with elements like lion dance and plum blossoms, to create a unique festive atmosphere.

This year's decorations also feature 2,000 new lanterns, with the number increasing each year, including traditional red lanterns and Vietnamese lanterns.

The Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce has also added lion head snake decorations in the flower beds to make the market more vibrant and traditional.

In addition, the photo spot and lion head decorative lights under the Chamber's building will debut on January 16, and the giant dragon set up last year will be displayed alongside the decorative lights, further enriching the market's landscape.

To give back to the public for their support, a quiz raffle event will be held during the market period, offering exquisite gifts such as keychains, gift vouchers, red packets, etc.

In conjunction with the cheongsam and Hanfu fashion show, the organizers also plan to record two MVs and have prepared New Year "Goldfish Lanterns" to give away to the public, hoping to add more highlights to the market and attract citizens to come and take photos.
