Miri Yang Clan Association Outstanding Student Award Applications Open

(Miri, 2nd) — Applications for the Miri Yang Clan Association outstanding student award for members' children are now open. The application deadline is January 24, 2026 (Saturday). Late submissions will not be accepted.
Qualified applicants must submit a copy of their academic results, indicating in Chinese the clan parent's name, school, class, and the student's name in both Chinese and English. The results copy should be stamped and signed by the principal, or the original results can be verified by the clan association's executive secretary at Lot 1238, Sentosa Commercial Centre. Phone: 085-431923. For members residing in the Shishan area, you may submit copies of results to the Meijin clan representative for collection (Mobile: 019-4891863).
Applicants' exam results must meet any of the following criteria:
A: Based on 2025 school exam results:
1. Kindergarten group: Applicants must have obtained above 90 marks in all subjects. If the teacher lists a top three class placement, awards will be given based on the ranking.
2. Primary school group: For Years 1–6, main subjects such as Chinese, Malay, English, Mathematics, and Science will be evaluated. Those who obtain straight As or up to two Bs, or have at least four subjects with TP4 and at least one with TP3 in school-based assessments, may apply.
3. Lower and upper secondary group: Those ranked top 3 overall in their grade at schools of any stream, and who achieve at least 50 marks in Chinese, English, Malay, and Mathematics (key subjects), and a total average of at least 65 marks, may apply. Those whose whole-year total average is above 75 marks (not ranked top 3) may receive a motivational award.

B: Based on 2025 national/public exam results:
1. Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for seniors: at least 4 distinctions and a pass in all subjects; for junior UEC, a pass in all subjects or at least 5As and 2Bs.
2. SPM: At least 5As with a pass in Malay language.
3. STPM: A pass in 4 subjects.
4. University group: Those graduating from a local or overseas university in 2025 with a diploma recognized by the Malaysian government may apply.
