Brunei Mandarin Singing Competition To Shine Brilliantly in May

 (Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) Organized by Brunei Star Entertainment Production, the “2026 Brunei Veteran and New Male & Female Mandarin Singing Competition” and “2026 Allied Youth & Children Mandarin Singing Selection Competition” will be held on May 2, 2026 (Saturday) at the Brunei Grand Hotel. The organizers welcome all enthusiastic Mandarin singing lovers to sign up and participate actively. 

The organizers stated that the objective of the competitions is to promote healthy entertainment activities, discover talented potential singers, provide a platform for local singing enthusiasts to showcase themselves and accumulate stage experience, as well as to further develop the Mandarin song culture in Brunei. 

Brunei Star Entertainment Production Managing Director Filip Chua mentioned that in recent years, the local singing scene has become increasingly vibrant. Whether in the children & youth or the adult categories, participants demonstrate promising stage potential and artistic accomplishment. He pointed out that by organizing formal competitions, not only can contestants’ confidence and singing skills be enhanced, but it can also help build a healthier and more systematic singing exchange environment. 

He emphasized that the organizers hope to continue revitalizing Brunei’s Mandarin singing culture through ongoing events, discovering more potential new talents, and providing lovers of singing with a more professional and larger-scale stage to fully display their abilities. 

For the Veteran & New Male/Female group, participants are required to sing one Mandarin song. Anyone who has won a championship in any large or small singing competition locally or abroad is not eligible to participate. The registration fee is BND45 (including dinner). Prizes include: Champion: BND300 and a trophy, 1st Runner-Up: BND200 and a trophy, 2nd Runner-Up: BND100 and a trophy, 4th place: BND50 and a trophy, 5th to 8th place: BND30 and a trophy each; there will also be a Stage Presence Award and a Costume Award, each BND30 and a trophy. 

Meanwhile, the “2026 Allied Youth & Children Mandarin Singing Selection Competition” will be held concurrently, with categories for Children (under 12) and Youth (13 to 18), each with limited slots based on completed registration fee payment. The registration fee is BND35 (including dinner). Each category will select a Champion, 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up, and 4th place. 

Prizes for the Youth & Children groups are as follows: Champion BND150 and a trophy, 1st Runner-Up BND100 and a trophy, 2nd Runner-Up BND60 and a trophy, 4th place BND30 and a trophy; there will also be separate Best Stage Presence and Best Costume awards, each BND20 and a trophy. All other participants will receive a participation prize as encouragement. 

As for event timings, the Youth & Children categories will be held at 6:30 pm, while the Veteran & New Male/Female categories will take the stage at 8:30 pm that evening. Registration closes on April 5, 2026.
