Chinese cross-dressing influencer 'Luo Damei', who had millions of followers, was tragically kidnapped and killed in July 2023, with her body hidden in a sweet potato cellar. Two years after the incident, the victim's body remains in the morgue, still not laid to rest. The case will have its second first-instance hearing at the Nanyang Intermediate People’s Court in Henan on the morning of the 29th. Recently, the victim’s family has come forward to accuse that the main reason for the continued inability to bury the deceased is that the suspect is dissatisfied with the autopsy results.
According to Jimu News, Luo Damei’s real name has not been made public. At the time of the incident, she was young, promising, and active on social media platforms. On the night of July 5, 2023, she was lured by a familiar man, Yu, under the pretense of a meeting to a rental house in Nanyang. Yu, his live-in girlfriend Sha, and accomplice Yang joined forces to subdue her, then transferred her to a village in Nanzhao County, and coerced her multiple times to transfer a total of about 2 million RMB (approximately 1.18 million ringgit) to designated accounts.
Unexpectedly, in the early hours of July 7, Yu, while alone with Luo Damei, killed her and buried her body in the village’s sweet potato cellar. Forensic examination indicated that the victim’s neck suffered severe blunt and sharp force trauma, causing asphyxiation, carotid artery rupture, and cervical vertebrae separation, leading to death. On February 28, 2025, the trial was held for the first time, lasting 10 hours. All three defendants recanted their confessions in court, and the court will announce its verdict at a later date. Luo Damei’s sister tearfully said that the family is still unable to arrange her brother’s affairs, only hoping the case can conclude soon so their loved one can rest in peace.
