Philippine President Marcos Jr. has requested all cabinet ministers to tender courtesy resignations in order to realign the government following the mid-term elections.

On the 22nd, Marcos Jr. issued a statement saying: “This is not about individuals, but about performance, coordination, and urgency.”

The statement said: “Those who have fulfilled their promises and continue to do so will be recognized. But we cannot be complacent. The era of staying in comfort zones is over.”

The presidential office pointed out that this is a “bold reset” that allows the president to thoroughly reform the government to better meet public expectations.

As of the morning of the 22nd, three ministers from the Departments of Transportation, Agriculture, and Finance have announced their resignations.

The directive was issued one week after the Philippines' mid-term elections, which have been widely viewed as a nationwide referendum on Marcos Jr.'s leadership.

According to a poll in March, Marcos Jr.'s public approval rating has dropped sharply, with only 25% of Filipinos approving of his performance, down from the previous 42%.
