(North Korea, 23rd) North Korean leader Kim Jong-un stated that further strengthening and developing the traditional friendly cooperative relations between North Korea and China in line with the demands of the times is the firm position of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government.
According to KCNA reports, on Sunday (September 21), Kim Jong-un sent a reply to CCP General Secretary Xi Jinping, expressing gratitude for the warm congratulations and heartfelt wishes conveyed on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of North Korea's founding.
Kim Jong-un said that he had recently visited China to attend the 80th anniversary commemoration of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global victory over fascism, and had held a very meaningful meeting with Xi Jinping, during which he "fully felt the firm support and special friendly affection of the Chinese party, government, and people toward our party, government, and people."
Kim further stated that further strengthening and developing the traditional friendly cooperative relations between North Korea and China in line with the demands of the times is the firm position of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government.
He expressed his belief that, together with China, they will further powerfully advance the development of friendly relations between North Korea and China in the common struggle to achieve the cause of socialism, thereby bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
On September 3, China held a military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the global victory over fascism. Kim Jong-un, Russian President Putin, and others were invited to attend.
On the other hand, during a speech delivered at the 13th session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly held in Pyongyang on Sunday, Kim Jong-un stated that if the United States recognizes the reality of North Korea, a summit between the two leaders would not be impossible, but at the same time he reiterated that "nuclear weapons will never be abandoned" and that denuclearization in exchange for sanction relief is absolutely out of question.
