On September 3rd, during China’s grand military parade, media caught the 'patriotic singer' Fan WeiQi and her husband Chen Jianzhou (Blackie) making a low-key appearance at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. Not long ago, she was passionately singing 'I Love You China' on tour in the Mainland; yet now, the couple sat at the same table, each immersed in their own phone, with almost no interaction throughout.
Fan WeiQi dressed casually, wearing a mask and hat to remain inconspicuous, her eyes fixed on her phone screen. Blackie was similarly absorbed in his own phone, their drinks on the table untouched. At one point, Blackie got up alone to buy food at the counter, while FanFan stayed in her seat, continuing to scroll on her phone. This 'sharing a table but each in their own world' scene was fully captured, making for an especially thought-provoking sight.
