(Miri, 2nd) A man's video of performing stunts on a motorcycle on the highway uploaded to social media has sparked a heated discussion, and the police successfully arrested the involved man yesterday following an investigation.

Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Bin Abdullah pointed out in a press release today that a 7-second video has recently circulated on social media, showing a man making dangerous moves while riding a motorcycle on the Miri Bypass, allegedly endangering the safety of road users.

After receiving information, police apprehended a 21-year-old local man around Jalan Senadin at approximately 9:15 pm yesterday (May 1st), and seized an involved motorcycle.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If found guilty, the offender can be fined not less than RM 5,000 and not more than RM 15,000, sentenced to a maximum of 5 years in prison, and have their driving license revoked for not less than 2 years.

ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Bin Abdullah urged witnesses of the incident to voluntarily provide information to assist in the investigation. The public can call the Miri District Police Operations Center at 085-433400, or contact the officer in charge of the case, Traffic Investigation Officer, Inspector Mohamad Faizul, at 014-8582582.

He also reminded motorcyclists to abide by the law, drive safely, and not to engage in illegal racing, improper vehicle modifications, or gather by the roadside, which can cause traffic congestion and noise nuisance, endangering their own and other road users' safety.
