Zahidi Joining PKR is Not Surprising - Noor Amin: Anwar Expressed Support Shortly After Becoming PM

The Chairman of Perlis PKR, Noor Amin Ahmad, stated that the decision of former UMNO leader Datuk Zahidi to join PKR is not a new development; he had expressed his intention to join PKR shortly after Dato' Seri Anwar was appointed as Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister.

In a statement on Monday, he pointed out that after he was appointed as the Perlis PKR Chairman, he learned that Zahidi had submitted an application to join PKR in mid-May 2024 and that the application had been approved. Feedback from some PKR members, Pakatan Harapan allies, and Barisan Nasional coalition partners has been communicated to the central leadership.

He stated that, in principle, PKR is a party that welcomes everyone, and anyone can join the party by following the established application process. Most importantly, applicants must truly understand and agree with the party's goals.

Noor Amin also mentioned that PKR is not a wealthy party but is built on the collective efforts, loyalty, and sacrifices of all its members.

He said that, in the current political climate, especially after Dato' Seri Anwar became the Prime Minister, support within the party has been growing, attracting prominent figures to join, which is not surprising.

Noor Amin noted that PKR welcomes anyone willing to strive together in both difficult and prosperous times, emphasizing that this is a crucial moment for the government to demonstrate its best performance as a bridge between the government and the people.

He added that Perlis PKR will not lay out the red carpet for anyone, as the party's goals remain distant and challenging.

He stated that to strengthen the party, especially in Perlis, substantial hard work and unwavering efforts are needed, requiring members to possess loyalty, camaraderie, and relentless spirit of sacrifice.

Zahidi Officially Joins PKR

Former UMNO Padang Besar Division Chairman Datuk Zahidi officially announced his entry into PKR to the media on the 8th of this month, promising to establish 400 party branches in Perlis, injecting new vitality into the party and assisting PKR in regaining power in Perlis in the 16th General Election.

As the former Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, he stated that his decision to join PKR has received the support of PKR Chairman Dato' Seri Anwar and revealed that he has already begun actions to set up 400 party branches in Perlis, with over 100 branches to be established in the Padang Besar area.

He pointed out that currently, PKR has about 60 party branches in Perlis, and plans to increase this number to 400 to further expand public support and strive for victory in the elections.
