Wu Zhengping, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the China International Import Expo Bureau, introduced at a press briefing for the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) on Monday that 57 countries and 3 international organizations have confirmed their participation in the country exhibition. Moldova, Romania, and the United Nations Development Programme will be participating for the first time.
Wu Zhengping stated that more than 1,200 companies from 99 countries and regions have signed contracts to exhibit, an increase of more than 100 over the same period last year; the exhibition area exceeds 340,000 square meters, up nearly 10,000 square meters year-on-year, completing 95% of the 360,000 square meter target. There are 265 Fortune 500 and industry-leading companies, 10 more than last year; 169 companies and 30 overseas organizing agencies have become "full attendees" for all nine sessions.
The 9th China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai as scheduled from November 5 to 10.
"Next year, we will also usher in the 10th CIIE. High-quality preparation of the 9th CIIE is of great significance and will lay a solid foundation for the expo's tenth anniversary," said Wu Zhengping. Currently, all preparatory work is fully launched and progressing steadily, with phased achievements being made.
Wu Zhengping added that, regarding the guest-of-honor country, Canada has announced that it will accept the invitation to serve as the guest-of-honor country for the second time. The China Pavilion will showcase the theme "Creating New Prospects, Winning a New Future Together," fully displaying new opportunities and new prospects for China's economic and social development during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
