On the 28th, the Seoul Central District Court pronounced its first-instance verdict against Kim Keon-hee, wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was accused of stock price manipulation and accepting bribes, sentencing Kim Keon-hee to 1 year and 8 months in prison.

Kim Keon-hee was accused of participating in the manipulation of the stock prices of Deusche Motors, the BMW dealer in South Korea, between October 2010 and December 2012, making illegal profits of about 810 million KRW. She was indicted by the independent prosecutors in August 2025.

Kim was also suspected of conspiring with Yoon Suk-yeol between June 2021 and March 2022 to accept polling services from political broker Myung Tae-kyun on 58 occasions, with a total value of about 270 million KRW.

On December 3, 2025, South Korea's 'Kim Keon-hee Special Investigation Team' requested the court to sentence Kim to 15 years in prison and impose a fine of 2 billion KRW (approximately 5.48 million MYR) on charges including stock price manipulation and accepting bribes. Kim Keon-hee denied all charges.

On August 12, 2025, Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Keon-hee, after which she was held in custody. On August 29 last year, the 'Kim Keon-hee Special Investigation Team' formally prosecuted Kim for violations of the Capital Market Act, the Political Funds Act, and the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

On September 24 last year, the Seoul Central District Court officially began hearing Kim Keon-hee's related cases.
