On the 8th, Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez thanked China for condemning the United States' forcible control of President Maduro and his wife, as well as its acts of aggression against Venezuela.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Rodríguez posted on social media that she met with Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela, Lan Hu, on the same day, and stated that Venezuela appreciates China’s firm stance in strongly condemning the United States' serious violations of international law and infringements on Venezuela’s sovereignty.
In the early hours of the 3rd, the United States launched a large-scale military operation against Venezuela, raiding Caracas and other locations, forcibly taking control of Maduro and his wife and transporting them to the United States.
On the 3rd, Venezuela’s Supreme Court ordered then Vice President Rodríguez to serve as acting president. On the 5th, Rodríguez was sworn in as interim president at Venezuela's National Assembly.
