(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) Zhou Shibi, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration's Kuala Lumpur Office, stated that the Taiwan Tourism Administration participated in the 2025 Brunei Sabre Travel Fair, promoting Taiwan tourism under the theme of “Salam Taiwan” and inviting Bruneian travelers to choose Taiwan as their next vacation destination. Bruneian citizens can enjoy visa-free entry to Taiwan, with the concession valid until July 31, 2026.
In an interview, Director Zhou Shibi said that the exhibition focuses on Taiwan’s Muslim-friendly environment, highlighting attractions such as the Alishan Forest Railway in Chiayi, showcasing the natural beauty of Kaohsiung, and the rich cultural heritage of Kinmen, allowing Bruneian tourists to experience diverse ecology and cultural depth.
He said, “Data shows that in 2024, 3,735 Bruneians visited Taiwan, an increase of 4.59% compared to 2023. Among them, 82% were for leisure vacations, and young Muslim travelers especially favor diverse experiences that combine shopping, cuisine, theme parks, and natural scenery.”
He pointed out that in recent years, “Salam Taiwan” has yielded significant results, with Taiwan actively enhancing halal food certification and prayer facilities, gradually establishing itself as an emerging Muslim-friendly travel destination. Taiwan ranked fourth among non-OIC countries in the 2025 Global Muslim Travel Index, earning international recognition. Meanwhile, “Global Traveller” magazine awarded Taiwan “Asia’s Best Leisure Destination”, and “Time Out” also named Tainan as the fourth “Best Travel Destination in Asia.”
To meet the growing demand for independent and in-depth travel, the Tourism Administration offered free Taiwan SIM cards with ticket purchase and folding travel bags with group bookings during the expo, and expanded the “Taiwan Goodies Grand Lucky Draw” activity to actively attract international visitors.
Zhou Shibi emphasized that Taiwan is not only a premier leisure tourism destination, but also hopes to become the first choice for overseas cultural experiences for the people of Brunei, thereby deepening people-to-people exchanges and continuously creating a hospitable Muslim-friendly tourism environment that makes Muslim travelers feel at home.
