122 Trainees Embark on Youth Development Program Training

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) A total of 122 trainees have recently been admitted to participate in the 2025 Youth Development Program (Program Pembangunan Belia), and will undergo a one-year training at the Brunei Youth Development Centre (PPB), covering 10 different courses.
The program was officially launched on July 7. All trainees will reside in dormitories throughout the program and participate in a one-week orientation activity.
Throughout the coming year, trainees will receive three core contents of training: skills training courses, personal development courses, and employment internship programs.
For the 2025/2026 Youth Development Program, a total of 10 courses are offered, namely:
· Diploma in Food Preparation & Culinary Arts (Level 2)
· Diploma in Food Preparation & Baking Arts (Level 2)
· Diploma in Vehicle Body Repair (Level 1)
· Certificate in Engineering (Welding) (Level 1)
· ITQ Certificate in Information Technology User (Level 1)
· Basic Piping Skills Certificate
· Basic Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Skills Certificate
· Basic Food Preparation Skills Certificate
· Basic Fashion Design Technology Skills Course
· Basic Beauty Therapy Skills Course
All courses are conducted using a combination of theory and practical lessons.

As for the personal development course, trainees will learn semi-academic content including the national philosophy of "Malay Islamic Monarchy" (MIB), religion and spirituality, sports, social affairs, and national awareness. The course aims to shape positive character and morality in youths, and to cultivate a strong self-identity.
At the end of the program, trainees will participate in an employment internship, entering either government or private sectors to put into practice the knowledge and skills learned at the centre, and to accumulate real work experience.
For those trainees choosing the entrepreneurial field, they will participate in various entrepreneurship activities and projects during the internship, such as the "YDC Lights On" entrepreneurship project, to inspire business awareness and practical capabilities.
During the recent "New Student Registration and Briefing Session" held at the Tanah Jambu Youth Development Centre Empowerment Hall (Kampung Tanah Jambu), the Brunei Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Youth Development Centre Assistant Director Yang Mulia Awang Haswandi Bin Haji Osman served as the guest of honor.
The agenda of the day also included briefings and presentations from the Trainee Affairs Unit, Skills Training Unit, Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam, and TAIB Insurance Agency.
