On the afternoon of the 8th, US President Trump posted on social media that he will meet with Russian President Putin in the US state of Alaska next Friday (the 15th).
Earlier that day, when answering questions from the media at the White House, Trump said that he would "soon" meet with Putin to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Russian presidential aide Ushakov confirmed the relevant information.
He stated that Putin and Trump will focus on discussing a long-term peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis. In the coming days, both sides will get in touch regarding specific arrangements for the meeting, and that "this will not be an easy process."
He pointed out that Russia and the United States are "neighbors," and that it is "logical" for the two countries' leaders to meet in Alaska. The Russian side has already invited Trump to hold the next US-Russia leaders' meeting in Russia.
