Agricultural entrepreneurs are encouraged to integrate artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technology into their operations to enhance productivity and yield.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh pointed out that the ministry supports the infrastructure and technology for the industry, but convincing these agricultural entrepreneurs to adopt these advanced technologies remains a challenge.

He stated that the issue lies in the ministry’s understanding of the industry’s circumstances, knowing its needs, and knowing that the technology provided by the ministry can be of help.

“We have already provided sufficient infrastructure to ensure safety and wide accessibility. Now the question is, how do we persuade the relevant groups to adapt and utilize these technologies?”

He remarked this during a press conference on Monday morning at the Kedah Aquaculture Comprehensive Center in Ayer Hitam, Ulu Kedah, at the Kedah@mymydigital tour event.

In addition, Gobind Singh said that entrepreneurs should not be deterred by the implementation costs because the return on investment will make it worthwhile.

“We need to view the advantages in terms of cost savings, time efficiency, higher productivity, and better quality products.”

He said that when productivity increases, market coverage expands, and income naturally grows as a result, one can clearly see the value brought by adopting this technology.

He added that the adoption of AI technology by agricultural entrepreneurs is encouraging, and the digital ministry will continue its efforts to promote its application.

He mentioned that the key now is to have a high focus and identify suitable groups, ensuring they have access to this technology and helping them leverage it to improve and enhance their businesses.

Earlier, in his speech at the event, Gobind Singh mentioned that the digital ministry would assist agricultural entrepreneurs in transforming towards digital economic development, helping to break away from the stereotypical image of 3D, which stands for "dirty, dangerous, and degrading."
