Remain Vigilant Even After Floods Recede, Health Minister Urges Public to Follow Authorities’ Instructions

(Kuala Lumpur, 1st) Although floods in various places are gradually receding, the weather is improving, and the continuous heavy rain warnings have been lifted, the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad, still reminds everyone not to let their guard down, to continue taking care of their families and themselves, and to follow the instructions issued by the authorities.

This morning, when sharing the flood report from the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) as of Sunday (November 30th) at 4 pm via X social media, he noted that there are still 8 states affected: Terengganu, Perak, Perlis, Kedah, Selangor, Kelantan, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan.
"The floods in Melaka have also been declared over. Currently, there are still 168 temporary evacuation centers (PPS) in operation, showing a significant decrease compared to before. There are 18,731 flood victims in the PPS, down from the previous 26,767."

Dzulkefly Ahmad said that except for Kedah, the situation in Terengganu, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Kelantan, Pahang, and Negeri Sembilan has eased.

In terms of medical facilities, a total of 20 facilities have been affected, of which 17 have been relocated elsewhere, and the remaining 3 have suspended operations.

"The PPS has provided health checks for 14,010 evacuees, during which there were 2,344 cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI), 551 cases of skin infection, 102 cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE), 27 cases of conjunctivitis, and 3 cases of chickenpox."

"Currently, there has been no outbreak of any epidemic. At the same time, three fatal cases have been handled—two occurring in Kelantan and one in Selangor—these incidents were all caused by vehicles being swept away by strong currents."

For this reason, Dzulkefly Ahmad prayed for rain carrying blessings, hoping it would fall on highlands, mountains, hills, valleys, and places where plants grow, in order to avoid disasters.
