According to the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, the Embassy attached great importance to the case of four Chinese nationals who went missing after arriving in Thailand on May 3, and has actively coordinated with relevant parties to provide assistance. The Thai side reported that on the 22nd, they had found the aforementioned four Chinese nationals and had provided proper arrangements for them.
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand expressed its relief, thanked the Thai government and other relevant parties for their efforts, and stated it would continue to follow up on the matter.
Recently, a woman from Yunnan named Chenchen posted a video on social media saying that her husband had traveled to Thailand with three friends during the Labor Day holiday to inspect a project. The four of them had planned to depart on May 3 and return on May 12, had completed all formal entry and exit procedures, and had booked round-trip air tickets in advance. However, upon arriving in Thailand, their itinerary changed at the last minute, and early the next morning, all four each sent their location to their families before collectively losing contact.
During the period they were missing, the four contacted their families from May 9 to 10 to report their safety. Their voices sounded choked and suppressed on the phone, and they all responded with highly similar statements such as, "We have found work locally, no need to worry, take care of the family." After a few brief words, they quickly hung up.
Their families were extremely anxious. To help bring their loved ones home safely as soon as possible, Chenchen and the families of the other three reported the matter to the police in Kunming on the 4th. On the 5th, the Guandu Branch of Kunming Public Security Bureau officially opened an investigation into the illegal detention case of the four.
Chenchen's husband Mr. Zhang once ran an advertising company, but operations came to a halt due to financial problems, and in 2024 he switched to work in the finance industry. In his business dealings, he became acquainted with Mr. Feng, who was involved in the mining business. In mid-April this year, Mr. Zhang received an invitation from Mr. Feng, who suggested that traveling to Thailand alone was not safe and wanted him to go along to inspect a project together. As Mr. Zhang was traveling abroad for the first time and felt unfamiliar and uneasy about overseas environments, he invited two more friends to accompany him.
