Lula Announces Brazil Will Implement Visa-Free Policy for Chinese Citizens

According to China Central Television News, after a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Lula announced on the 23rd local time that Brazil will implement visa-free entry for certain categories of short-term visas for Chinese citizens, in response to China's decision to implement a visa-free policy for Brazilian citizens starting from 2025. The date for the implementation of the policy is yet to be announced.

The Brazilian Presidential Palace issued a statement citing the increasingly close relationship between China, Latin America, and other countries. The move aims to promote the movement of people between China, Latin America, and other regions.

Lula had a phone conversation with Xi Jinping on the evening of the 22nd (morning of the 23rd Beijing time). At that time, Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan. China will promote high-quality development through a high level of opening up and bring more opportunities for cooperation between China and Brazil. China is willing to work together with Brazil to comprehensively advance mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and promote greater development of China-Brazil relations. Lula also said that Brazil is willing to work together with China to promote greater development of bilateral and China-Latin America relations. Brazil and China are important forces in defending multilateralism and upholding free trade.
