On the first and second days of the recent Hari Raya celebrations, nearly 27,000 visitors flocked to the Sarawak Governor’s Mansion to attend the open house event, demonstrating the strong unity and spirit of kinship among the people of Sarawak.

In a special thank-you message issued yesterday, Sarawak Governor Tun Wan Junaidi explained that the response was very enthusiastic, with 25,000 visitors on the first day and nearly 2,000 on the second day, far exceeding the organizers’ initial expectations.

He pointed out that the attendance of people from various regions, including Kuching, Samarahan, Mukah, and Sibu, as well as residents of Kuching city, reflected the high level of amicable relations in Sarawak’s multi-ethnic society.

“The atmosphere of this celebration was very lively and touching. People of different ages, ethnicities, and religions attended, displaying the priceless value of unity.”

At the same time, the first day of celebrations featured 14 stalls, most of which were operated by traditional vendors from around Kuching, offering a variety of traditional delicacies such as satay, Malay rice dumplings (Ketupat), rendang, curry, red bean ice, kolo mee, Javanese noodles, and Sarawak layered cake.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Governor also expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the vendors, who ensured an ample supply of food and drinks so that all attendees could enjoy the event.

He added that the uniqueness of the Hari Raya open house at the Sarawak Governor’s Mansion was also reflected in the guests’ attire of various ethnic traditional costumes, further showcasing Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage.

In view of this, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Sarawak Governor’s Wife, Datuk Patinggi Fauziah, extended their deepest appreciation to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the celebration.
