The National Bureau of Statistics of China announced on the 19th data related to the operation of the national economy in 2025, stating that China’s GDP growth rate for 2025 is 5%.
The State Council Information Office of China held a press conference, at which Kang Yi, Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, introduced the "2025 National Economic Operation," announcing the 2025 economic growth rate figures.
The report released by the National Bureau of Statistics pointed out that in 2025, economic development will move towards new and better directions, expected goals have been well achieved, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" has ended in victory.
Data show that the economic growth rates for the first to fourth quarters of 2025 are 5.4%, 5.2%, 4.8%, and 4.5% respectively.
Deepening Impact of Changes in External Environment
Officials stated that China’s national economy in 2025 withstood multiple pressures, maintained steady progress with momentum, and achieved new successes in high-quality development. However, it should also be noted that changes in the external environment have deepened, the contradiction of strong supply but weak demand at home is prominent, and there are still many old problems and new challenges in economic development.
The officials said that in the next stage, it is necessary to adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance, fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, all plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, and the requirements of the Central Economic Work Conference. Persist in seeking progress while maintaining stability, improve quality and efficiency, implement more proactive macro policies, continue expanding domestic demand and optimizing supply, enhance incremental supply while revitalizing existing assets, develop new quality productive forces based on local conditions, vigorously promote the construction of a unified national market, drive effective qualitative improvement and reasonable quantitative growth of the economy, and ensure a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
