2025 Miri Gong Xi Bazaar Adam Yii: Displaying Unity and Cultural Vitality

(Miri, 27th)—Miri Mayor and Joint Organizing Committee Chairman Adam Yii Siew Sang stated that after 11 days and 10 nights of grand celebration, the 2025 Miri Gong Xi Bazaar concluded successfully. This event fully showcased Miri's spirit of unity, cultural diversity, and community vitality.

At the closing ceremony, Adam Yii specifically thanked Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim, for officiating the bazaar’s opening ceremony. He also thanked Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Datuk Sebastian Ting, for attending the closing ceremony.

He emphasized that support from government departments not only elevated the status of the event but also strengthened the cohesion of the community.

Adam Yii expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce, praising their persistence and cooperation which made the Miri Gong Xi Bazaar a cherished tradition for the people of Miri. Furthermore, he thanked the Miri City Councillors and the City Council team for their proactive cooperation in ensuring the success of the event.

He stated during the 2025 Miri Gong Xi Bazaar award ceremony that this year marks the 21st edition of the bazaar. Since its inception in 2000, the event has faced challenges, especially the shutdown during the pandemic, yet it has relaunched, demonstrating the enthusiasm and resilience of the people of Miri.

This year, the Miri Gong Xi Bazaar attracted tens of thousands of visitors who came to experience the festive atmosphere, taste diverse cuisines, and enjoy colorful performances. The number of vendors from various ethnic backgrounds reached a new high, further highlighting Miri's openness and inclusiveness.

"The Miri Gong Xi Bazaar is not just a festive event," Adam Yii noted, "It provides a platform for local small businesses and entrepreneurs, boosts economic and tourism development, and acts as a cultural melting pot, celebrating traditional and innovative efforts in preserving Sarawak's rich cultural heritage."

He offered sincere thanks to all vendors, performers, and volunteers, and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of Miri residents and guests, indicating that their efforts and support were key to the event's success.
