(Bandar Seri Begawan, 21st)—In order to promote the traditional Chinese art of calligraphy and inherit the cultural spirit of Spring Festival couplets, the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Association is proud to host the 4th 'Bingwu Year National On-Site Spring Festival Couplet Calligraphy Competition,' which is now officially open for registration. All teachers and students from schools nationwide, as well as the general public holding Brunei identification cards, are sincerely invited to participate. Let's convey emotion through the brush and welcome the Bingwu New Year together.
This year's competition, themed 'Auspicious Year of the Horse · Welcoming Spring with Ink and Brush,' aims to showcase the charm of calligraphic art and promote cultural exchange and creativity through live calligraphy.
The competition categories are as follows: Open Group: Brunei residents, regardless of age, gender, or race.
Student Group: Regardless of age or gender, categorized by grade:
· Secondary School Chinese Group (limited to Year 7 to Year 11);
· Secondary School Non-Chinese Group (limited to Year 7 to Year 11);
· Primary School Chinese Group (Kindergarten to Year 6);
· Primary School Non-Chinese Group (Kindergarten to Year 6).
Competition Dates and Schedule:
· Open Group: Open to all at 2:00 pm, February 1, 2026 (Sunday). Location: Concepts Group Zhilian Hall 2
· Open competitions conducted at various sub-venues by school-appointed teachers. Schools are to submit the list of participants and their works.
· Student Group: In January 2026. Date and time to be arranged by each sub-venue.
Preliminary Selection: Each school's sub-venue selects 20 preliminary works per category. These must be submitted to the organizer’s collection point by 12:00 noon, February 7, 2026 (Saturday);
Judging: Scheduled for February 8, 2026 (Sunday);
Awards Ceremony: Scheduled for March 1, 2026 (Sunday) at 8:00 am. Location: Lugu Multipurpose Grand Hall.
