Sarawak Government Allocates 19 Million to Assist with First Home Deposits, Says Premier

(Kuching, 26th) The Sarawak government has allocated RM19 million to help the people of the state own their first homes.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that the fund provides a deposit of RM10,000 to each first-time homebuyer, involving 1,900 homes to date.

“Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan informed me that the Sarawak government has disbursed deposits for 1,900 homes so far. This means that from now on, with the many ongoing affordable housing projects, we will assist more Sarawakians in owning their first homes.”

Abang Johari made the statement at a press conference following the keys handover ceremony of completed Vision Hill Sri Pertiwi homes.

Regarding the Sri Pertiwi Vision Hill project, Abang Johari said the Sarawak government has provided deposits for over 250 homes, totaling more than RM250,000, all purchased by the community.

“There are over 250 housing units here, meaning that the Sarawak government has provided approximately RM254,000 in deposits, which do not need to be repaid, as all deposits are borne by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“Homebuyers only need to continue making monthly payments to 'Mutiara Mortgage and Finance.' I believe this will provide more convenience for homebuyers.”

Earlier in the ceremony, the Premier presented the homeowners with a replica key, symbolically handing over the house keys to the homeowners.
