According to various foreign media reports, Sri Lanka is facing a fuel shortage, and the conflict in Iran may make the domestic situation even more severe. President Dissanayake of Sri Lanka has announced that, effective immediately, every Wednesday will be a public holiday in order to save fuel. In addition to government agencies, the 3-day weekend will also apply to schools, and for now, this new schedule will be implemented indefinitely.
The Sri Lankan government has announced a temporary suspension of all official activities and has urged civil servants to work from home as much as possible to save fuel. Private companies are also being called upon to follow suit.
