At 59 years old, Carina Lau, esteemed as a movie queen and a wealthy socialite, always exudes a powerful aura whenever she appears. However, in her early years, she followed the path of a petite and charming girl-next-door; her young appearance was sweet and adorable. Recently, a netizen shared on XiaoHongShu about visiting the China Court Museum and was surprised to find a photo of Carina Lau appearing in court in Shanghai 31 years ago because of a lawsuit. The netizen complimented the pure look of Carina Lau at that time and discussed the lawsuit's content.

Netizens praised Carina Lau's pure look at that time and further discussed the lawsuit's content.

Recently, a netizen visited the China Court Museum and later shared Carina Lau’s courtroom photo displayed in the museum on XiaoHongShu, commenting: “I was stunned upon seeing a photo of Carina Lau while visiting the court museum. She looked so beautiful.” The photo was taken in 1993 when Carina Lau was 28 years old; having just left TVB, she was a rising star in the film industry, with her popularity soaring, making her a favorite among Chinese merchants who wanted her as their brand ambassador. However, at that time, there seemed to be misunderstandings in collaborating with certain companies, eventually leading to a lawsuit. In the China Court Museum, beneath Carina Lau's courtroom photo, it is written, “On February 9, 1993, the original Shanghai Intermediate People's Court publicly heard the case of Carina Lau vs. Yalisi Industrial Company, Shanghai No.1 Department Store, and Shanghai Hualian Commercial Building for the infringement of portrait rights,” showcasing Carina Lau's neat appearance as she sat in the plaintiff's dock.

According to reports, this was the first portrait rights dispute case involving a Hong Kong person in China and also the first time someone filed a lawsuit in China against major retailers as joint defendants for infringing portrait rights. Additionally, Carina Lau's request for compensation amounted to 1 million RMB (approximately 610,000 MYR) for emotional distress, which sparked quite a discussion. However, in the end, Carina Lau withdrew the lawsuit against the First Department Store and Hualian Commercial Building, was awarded a compensation of 100,000 RMB (about 61,000 MYR), and donated the compensation to the Hope Project.#
