South Korean police stated on the 6th that death threats against President Lee Jae-myung appeared on the country's social media that day, and police have launched an investigation.

According to the police, authorities received a report at around 9:30 a.m. that someone had posted five messages on social media at around 6:30 a.m. that morning, threatening that "Lee Jae-myung will be killed today." Seoul police immediately handed the case over to the Huaihua Police Station for investigation. The Huaihua Police Station said they are tracking down the suspect using technical means such as account information analysis.

In February this year, two teenagers were referred to prosecution by the police for posting death threats against Lee Jae-myung online. These two suspects posted on social media in September last year, claiming they were going to commit crimes against Lee Jae-myung and also made threats against multiple classmates.

In January 2024, then leader of South Korea's Democratic Party Lee Jae-myung was attacked by a knife-wielding man on Busan's Gadeokdo Island, suffering bleeding from a neck injury before being taken to hospital for treatment. The assailant was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In January this year, the South Korean government classified this incident as a terrorist attack.
