(Kuala Lumpur, 14th) To celebrate the 2026 National Journalists Day (HAWANA), the HAWANA Fun Walk event took place today, kicking off at 7:30 am with warm-up and aerobic exercises.
Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim officiated the flag-off at 7:45 am, with nearly 2,000 participants completing the 2.6-kilometer walk around Kuala Lumpur’s Titiwangsa Lake Park.
Attendees included Deputy Secretary-General (Strategic Communications & Creative Sector) of the Ministry, Datuk Paria, Bernama Chief Executive Officer and 2026 HAWANA Organizing Committee Chairwoman Datin Paduka Nurul Afidah, Bernama Editor-in-Chief and Organizing Committee Vice Chairman Arul Rajoo, Bernama Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News) and 2026 HAWANA Project Director Mohamad Sukri, as well as senior management from Bernama.
In addition to the walk, a variety of family-friendly activities were held, including traditional games such as Five Stones, Malay Congkak, the indigenous intelligence game Kercang, and the board game Dam Haji, along with coloring contests and quiz competitions with prizes.
This event, organized by Bernama, also offered 500 lucky draw prizes worth up to RM50,000 in total, including 10 electric motorcycles valued at RM3,000 each, bicycles, and electrical appliances.
The HAWANA Fun Walk was supported by 14 strategic partners from corporations and organizations, including the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Basic Tees, BigBigPlace, Maxim Ride-Hailing, Cap Kunci, Milo, Extra Joss, Munchy’s Oat Krunch, Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), MOMAwater, Yakult, ZUS Coffee, Selangor Fruit Valley, and Sunshine Bakeries.
The organizers hope that this event will continue to serve as a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle and cultivate unity, bringing together media practitioners and the public, in line with the objectives of this year's HAWANA celebration.
The grand finale of the HAWANA celebration will be held on June 20 in Penang and will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar.
