As the Lunar New Year is approaching, Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a symposium on the afternoon of the 26th at the Great Hall of the People with representatives of foreign experts who were awarded the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award and are working in China.

Li Qiang extended New Year blessings and sincere greetings to the foreign experts, thanked them for their long-term concern and support for China's modernization, and listened carefully to their opinions and suggestions on China's reform and development and government work. Experts from countries like the UK, Poland, Mali, Romania, Germany, and Pakistan spoke on topics such as technological innovation, economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, international communication, and talent cultivation.

Li Qiang pointed out that in the past year, China has made new achievements in development, to which foreign experts have contributed positively. Their experiences of working and living in China vividly exemplify the positive interaction and deep integration between China and the world. There are many important insights to be drawn from these experiences, with two standing out: Firstly, the world needs communication. The current world is not tranquil, and the more complicated the international environment is, the more countries need to open their hearts and engage in dialogue. In recent years, with the rapid development of technologies such as big data, IoT, and artificial intelligence, the movement of people and information exchanges across countries have become more convenient and frequent, making globalization irreversible. China has consistently advocated for enhancing international communication and dialogue, encouraged exchanges at all levels and in all areas between China and other countries, promoted mutual learning, and facilitated mutual understanding between peoples. China will continue to adhere to openness and inclusiveness, actively promote international exchanges in various fields, and push all parties to resolve conflicts and differences through candid dialogues and friendly consultations for peace and development.

He stated that secondly, innovation requires cooperation. With the in-depth development of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, the complexity and systematic nature of scientific research have significantly increased, making open cooperation an inevitable trend and choice. Over the years, China has promoted technological cooperation and the sharing of achievements through practical actions, proactively integrated into the global innovation network, initiated international scientific cooperation initiatives, and supported international researchers in discussing frontier issues of technological development. China will continue to expand technological openness, broaden and deepen joint research, actively participate in global technology governance, and cooperate with various countries to solve practical problems and address global challenges.

He emphasized that China has developed itself through close connections and open interactions with the world and has played an important role in promoting global development. China's door of openness will always be open to talents from all countries. The Chinese government will further optimize relevant policies, improve service and support levels, and build more platforms for international exchange and cooperation, thereby continuously creating favorable conditions for foreign talents to work, start careers, and showcase their talents in China.
